ALICE IN FASHIONLAND

by Sanda Panteleimonov of TopModelGroup MD

Each of us knows Alice, a nice girl who visited Wonderland and went a long way, going through discoveries and miracles of an enigmatic dreamland and returning back home. Created about 150 years ago, she still remains an interesting character for all of us.

In the early 20th century, the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt wears an imitation of Alice in Wonderland’s
blue dress. She chose this outfit for her father’s inauguration as US president in 1904.

The 1951 Disney cartoon brings back Victorian example of dress.

  • ·         Key fashion traits: petticoats, bobby socks.
In 1966, there was a television film directed by Jonathan Miller that represented Alice as an adult, a critical observer of the cruelties of the adult world.

  • ·         Key fashion traits:  an Edwardian dress.

A 1966 advert showed Alice in modernized Victorian look.

  • ·         Key fashion traits: ankle boots, mini-skirt.
  • ·         Key beauty traits: hairband.

Alice will always remain an inspiration for all our styles. Lucky for us!

There are lots of  brands and designers that deserve very special attention thanks to their interesting, unusual, and nonstandard collections and fashion lines, but let me enlighten you for this autumn.
Barbara Bui
Another surprise we have from Barbara Bui who is well-known and famous for experimenting with French style, rock’n’roll, and classic styles…is the hip-hop trends. This season, the designer presents a new, unbelievable and bold collection that combines urban style, sportive elements, and ethnic prints.

Céline
When you say Céline, you will envision flower prints, romantic style, sweetness, and an abundance of pastel colors.  Céline  is a perfect brand for summer, for love, for adventures, and for romantic. All the clothes are ideally matched with accessories, that as time goes by, they become more complex, more attractive, and even mysterious.
