TIME FOR AFRICA by Sanda Panteleimonov

Inspired by clothes of the African Territory, modern fashion successfully borrows their outfits as ideas for textiles and accessorizes. Nowadays, celebrities like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Cheryl Cole, and even PippaMiddleton are frequently using this kind of trend in their everyday image. Therefore, for each of us particularly, animal prints became a huge part of fashion.

In 1967, Yves Saint Laurent approached this tendency with outfits based on African custom attire. He demonstrated dresses, tops, skirts, blouses, accessories, and bags with catchy wild animal prints. Thus, he immediately introduced new collections with ethnic, very specific, and very bold trends for several seasons. With Louis Vuitton 2012 collection, signs and hints of the New African Era were observed with a new power and findings, and now we have a new chance to admire African Fashion. Stylists have been attempting to convince us that African motifs are on trend for years, along with wild animal prints, furs, and bright warm tones in clothes and accessories. The 2014 Fall-Winter collections as well as Spring-Summer collections look like ads for the special edition of the National Geographic magazine. Asia, Africa, and South America represents a source of origin for complex patterns and drawings, animal prints, bright ornaments  in accessories, everyday clothes, and even evening outfits. The  african prints may be combined with classic, chic or other forms clothing (sometimes even athletic outfits).

There are many benefits and advantages in this trend, but the best thing would be it’s ethnic effect. The elements and silhouettes always remain modern, very accessible, and are show stoppers. There’s no need to be a person with an exotic taste or even have an African cultural knowledge to promote this trend. Leather, wool, silk or linen are the best natural materials for clothes, shoes, bags and other accessories.   Be careful with make-up and don’t turn it into a “war paint.”
Now let’s check out some of modern revelations for coming seasons. Mona Kowalska was feeling a bit playful with her collection creating a risky journey collection with oversized tunics and playful prints. Julie Nicaisse Jewellery presents a whole collection of rings, bracelets, earrings with a “wild subtext“. And also I propose a little blitz for our subject!!
Where it began?
After Europeans came home from colonizing countries of Africa and Asia, they brought with them skins of the wild animals like: lions, leopards, tigers, jaguars, panthers, snakes, etc. Their original patterns were reproduced on textile fabrics, and soon were marked on clothes and accessories.
Two centuries later, superstars like Lauren Bacall and Marilyn Monroe promoted these prints for their magnetism and chic.
Why it keeps coming back?
Because they’re simply seasonless! You can wear them almost with any item of clothing and they really add edge to your wardrobe.
Best size for skirts/dresses etc. with these prints:  You are able to wear with mini-skirts, midi dresses; doesn‘t matter actually.
Best colors: bright yellow, brown, beige, black, orange, red, purple, green, pale pink, and swamp.
Best materials: cotton, silk, knits, wool, and leather.
Best accessories: leather hand bags, woven bags, woven sandals, and shoes with t-strap heels.
3 Important Rules for African Prints:
1. Don’t forget a neutral tone for your saucy look. This will be a perfect contrast for your African prints.
2. Play with accessories. Just be attentive on how you are working with the accessories. A few neutral will do for a dress or a costume if it contains African Prints. Vice-versa – if you have a neutral dress – “revitalize” it with wild accessories.
3. Don’t Mix Prints. You should not mix the leopard and crocodile prints. Hope I don’t need to explain why it will look a little strange.
Waka-waka, time for Africa… Are you ready?  You should not worry about something, when you have so many  designers, brands and trends declaring Africa as one of the season’s hits!

WHIP YOUR HAIR by Sanda Panteleimonov

Saucy, bold, daring hairstyle – “a la AfroLady” will stand out of time and place forever. Sucky hairstyles are just like an indispensable and irreplaceable element and detail, that changes style, image, character, and even personality. Hair “reincarnates” you. Never mind if you choose a casual or a glamorous hairstyle, be more strict or a little nasty,  sophisticated, super ordinary, or  any other type – you for sure will become noticed and remarked!

Take an example from stars like Rihanna (and her frequent experiments not only with hairdos but with colours also), Kelly Rowland (with her gorgeous curls), Solange Knowles (now that’s what I name a natural afro), Beyonce (these long, bold waves), Jill Scott (with funky curls). And take a look – I have chosen three cheeky and impertinent coiffures for a Hot

TRICK OR TREAT? CARRIE OR BLACK WIDOW? by Sanda Panteleimonov

So…with all these scary traditions and horror-parties everywhere, each of us, ladies, need a lot of  time and power to create an original Halloween look. And when I say Halloween look, I mean not just a really cool party dress, but also a fashionable beauty look. An inspired, unique and unusual make-up will help you independently stand out from the crowd.

Each year, we see the typical ghosts, witches, vampires or zombies on Halloween Night and it gets really boring from year to year to see the same ideas.  Therefore, looking through the variety of ideas for Halloween makeup, I found a detailed description of an easily recognizable but difficult makeup. And it’s the main character of movie “Carrie”. For Halloween, she remains as an icon whose haunting look is easily recognized. For implementation of the look you can use cosmetics indicated and chosen by me. There are some steps that indicate how to create your own version of the scary girl.

1.       Start on a fresh, bare face. Clean your face and remove all traces of any makeup. Firstly, treat your face with moisturizer and your lips with lip conditioner.
2.       Use foundation (can use M.A.C Face and Body Foundation) and a concealer (can use M.A.C Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer) to cover where it is really necessary on your face.

3.       Define eyebrows which will help make you look younger.  (You can use M.A.C 212 Flat Definer Brush with M.A.C Eye Shadow in Concrete).

4.       Swirl a coral cream blush (You are able to use M.A.C Crème blend Blush in Lady blush) on to your cheeks and tap the color down with your fingertips for a better accent.

5.       For Eye shadow, apply a taupe cream shadow (You can use M.A.C Pro Longwear Paint Pot and Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow), being sure to diffuse the color as you blend upward without any harsh lines. This paint gives your eyes a natural glow, and you don’t even have to worry about the fake blood affecting your face.

6.       Define the creases, sculpt the sockets of your eyes, and apply eye shadow along your outer lash lines as well for added depth.

7.       Top your eyes with shimmer by using a pink pigment (You are able to use M.A.C Pro Glitter Reflects Red or Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Ballet Pink) all over your eye lids, concentrating most of the sparkles in the center.

8.    Apply Top Mascara and Bottom Mascara. (You can use M.A.C Haute & Naughty Lash or Haute & Naughty Lash).

9.     Swipe on Lip Gloss. Apply a slick, sheer, off-red gloss on your lips, like M.A.C Tinted Lipglass in Viva Glam I or  Stila Lip Glaze in Cranberry.

10.   Smudge on mascara. To take the look to the next level, continue by smearing mascara onto your lids and underneath your eyes. Make it appear like you’ve been crying.

11.    Make mascara run by adding water.

12.    Tap a wet makeup brush onto the mascara smudges to create blackened tears. The more water you can load up onto the brush, the better it will look.
13. Apply fake blood. Just no comments.
14. Complete the blood- soaked look with an askew tiara, vengeful eyes, and a demented smirk!
Every Halloween, makeup takes on a different meaning, but we always try someone new and special. Unlike mask, makeup can transforms you in an unpredictable way.

Black Widow can’t be named as a classical figure of Halloween, but still has an influence on Halloween’s Fashion. So here are steps that indicate how to make you a Queen of Spiders.

1.       Cover eyebrows. Spread over the brow in the direction of hair growth. Cover with white cream makeup (can use Party City White Cream Make Up). Using black cream makeup (like Party City Black Cream Make Up), paint high, arching brows and extend the color up dramatically, shading above your brows.
2.       Apply a thin line of eyelash adhesive to back of false eyelashes, carefully press into place along lash line of each eye.
3.       Using black cream makeup or mascara, line each eye.
4.       Outline your lips with red lip liner and after that fill your lips with red lipstick (can use Party City Red Lipstick).
5.       Use gel to slick back your hair.
6.       Using special glue and attach plastic spiders to your face.
7.       Finish your look with gloomy manicure – sharp red or long black nails.
And it’s finished. As you see, this Halloween you can try something new and special for your Halloween Party. Amaze your friends and become the Surprise of the Halloween. Good luck!

UNCHAINED AUTUMN by Sanda Panteleimonov

Everybody knows that jewelry was and still remain as a very important accessory for women, which is an indispensable part of her style. You may be wondering what is the most fashionable jewelry of  autumn 2014?  And in this case I will propose just to check the main trends in jewelry for the coming season.

As I say, the modern fashion world is a very contradictory thing that just loves to challenge society. Just imagine: while we do our best in minimizing our lives, fashion acts exactly in the opposite way. A proof of this phenomenon consists in the appearance of the massive chains as part of most jewelry and fashion accessories for this autumn. The chunky massive chain is making a strong return for this autumn, and although it’s an allusion to a clear throwback to ‘90s hip-hop style, you don’t have to possess Rihanna’s courage to put them on.
For several seasons in a row, designers abound ideas of hold thicker and large jewelry with the elements of massive chains. And even though massive chains are presented by a variety of materials (like gold, platinum, silver and other alloys of different colors), there is one only mandatory element: a chain or, sometimes, an allusion of it. Besides the precious materials or their similarities, today’s chains can be composed of plastic, textiles, leather, and so on. Some materials that  are woven into jewelry, that gives to the accessory an unusual, original, and attractive appearance. If you take a closer look at the fashionable chains of this season, you will understand the main idea: the larger it is and the more numerous levels the chains have, the better it is for autumn fashion time.
Basically, bracelets and necklaces with massive chains are frequent guests of autumn-winter shows. Therefore, this season such well-known fashion houses as Moschino, Chanel, and Just Cavalli show different versions of the main trend of season’s accessories.
And now I would like to offer you some advices – how to implement this accessory to your everyday ensemble in the best way:
1) Among this kind of bracelet even a strict dress or costume will look fresh and coolly. Don’t be afraid to combine bold jewelry with a classic suit.
2) These accessories must be either one or two or an uncountable number.
3) Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and even rings with massive chains – improvise as you want.
4) Chains seem to you a little aggressive? Lace additions and element of flowers, hearts, or other nice things may help you improve the impression about your look.
First Fashionable Aid:
1) Christian Lacroix expressed his favor for the rock or punk style, presenting a collection of jewelry with the massive chain, decorated with pendants and crosses.
2) Jewelry house Tiffany & Co in the new season pleases us with many variations of gothic cuff bracelets (and not only bracelets)!
3) Use a massive chain as a belt (Balmain recommends to us)
4) Roberto Cavalli advises all fashionable ladies to reel in the long metal chain from their clutch’s or their bag’s and turn them into a spectacular bracelet.
Don’t be afraid to look a little scary for others. Keep calm, ’cause it’s autumn coming.
